How cute is this girl? Meet Mocha! Yes, I know – not the most creative name. But hey, Amy was just a kid when she named her! Mocha is 10 years young and while her grey muzzle gives away her age, her personality doesn’t!

Amy and Mocha had been waiting for a good snow fall to shoot, but since that never really happened this winter, they settled for this. The sun was gorgeous and Mocha even took a dip in the river. Here are a couple of my favourite shots!

Wentzel, Wentzel, Wentzel. Where do I even start with a dog like Wentzel. He and I go way back. I met him when I first photographed him at the CHS. He was young, handsome and sweet – I assumed he would go before the week was over. But he didn’t.

Wentzel sat at the CHS for several months. Various staff fell in love with him, but Helen was the lucky lady to found the means to take him home. After spending some time with Wentzel and Helen in Canmore, it was easy to see that Wentzel is the lucky one in the pair.

Helen has done a great job with Wentzel and turned him into a very well-mannered and sweet companion. Wentzel had to put up with a lot of demands from me during our session and I am in LOVE with the photos. Sorry for the long post – when you have a dog that easy on the eyes it’s hard to choose!

My dogs love snow. No wait. They LOOOOOVE it. If Charlie could, I think he would marry it.That’s how much he loves it. We took Charlie and Maui out to the farm Sunday morning, so they could enjoy the first major snowfall of the year.

I think if dogs could cry, Charlie would have he was so excited.

I brought my camera – it makes me forget about my frozen fingers and toes for a little while.

Here are a couple of my favourite shots from yesterday. Macy and K-bear joined us for a play date. The Chihuahua’s, not so much.

Ahhhh, fall! Such a gorgeous day to shoot two gorgeous girl! Lucy (more affectionately known as Roocy) and Piper are typical Labs – ball crazy and energetic – but so well-trained and are super fun to be around. If only all Labs were as lovely as these two…..

Lucy’s love for tennis balls and Piper’s love for her sister made it easy to get some great shots!

The first photo is Lucy and Piper’s mom favourite – Pipe-pula! Just in time for Halloween!

Here’s the FinneganCrew! I went to high school with Jenn and we recently re-connected when we began working together at the CHS. She asked me to do photos of her pets awhile ago, but wanted to wait until her and Stephen added a dog to their family.

Indy has only been with Jenn and Stephen for a couple of months and she has settled in really well. She is still new, so we weren’t able to take her off-leash – that’s right, she is tied to a tree. But you wouldn’t know it! She was a natural in front of the camera and once she is better off leash Jenn, you, me and Indy will do this again!

Pebbles, Hurley and Bear complete their little family and are quite the characters. Anytime I am warned not to get too close to an animal because it might bite me, I know it’s going to be a good time. The cats loved the camera and allowed me to get up close and personal. Oh, and I didn’t get bit – yeah, I’m good.

Anyone who knows Klaus and his inability to sit still should be very impressed by these photographs, lol. Ever heard of Beaver Dam Flats? It’s a great offleash park with tails, trees and the river in south Calgary. Amazing! I spent a great Saturday afternoon with Klaus and his mom there on the last hot day of the year – I think it hit 30 degrees!

Klaus was a trooper and made for a great model. And yes, his eyes are always bugging out like that!

I spent a great fall evening a couple weeks ago down by the river with two of the cutest dogs around – Molly and Lexie! Lexie is 16 years young and has been going to the Bow River since she was adopted 14 years ago! The river means a lot to Lexie and her family, so it was great to be able to capture Lexie and Molly in their elements!

Here are a couple shots from the night – Lexie sure knows how to work the camera for an old gal.

With September long weekend being the last long weekend of the year that (usually) has sunny weather, we spent ours outside with the dogs! We took a short trip down to Southern Alberta to visit Kent’s parents and took CharlieDog along. We stopped somewhere between Vulcan and Diamond City for a pee break and took advantage on the gorgeous scenery.

We also headed out to my parents farm on Monday and the dogs made good use of the dugout! Lessons learned: K-Bear’s ear will never both stand up and CharlieDog is the worst swimmer I have ever seen. It’s a wonder I don’t have shots of Kent rescuing CharlieDog from the water…..

This first photograph sums up my session with Carl. Tongue out and on the move!

Carl, Carl, Carl – where to start with a dog like Carl. My cousin Cody and his wife Kari got Carl as a pup and let’s just say that the beagle hasn’t taken it easy on them. It was a long several months of hand feeding, daily runs and lots of “NO CARL – PUT THE BLACKBERRY/SANDLE/TV REMOTE DOWN. But Carl, just recently two, has finally calmed down and is a great dog – they have done an awesome job with him!

It was a fun session with Cody, Carl and Kari, but he is definitely attached to his parents. He followed them everywhere, but lucky for me Cody and Kari were willing to hang around and lend a hand. I love how the photos turned and I hope you guys love them too! Carl should probably get an agent – he is one handsome devil.

For my first session for CharlieDog Photography, I couldn’t have picked a more awesome or diverse crew – the Slater Crew! I have worked with Melaina for a year and a half at the Calgary Humane Society and she has always been one of my biggest cheerleaders. I was so happy I could finally meet all of her fur family and get to photograph them!

Harley (the big orange and white boy) has not had the easiest of years and time was definitely of the essence to get some memorable photos of him. Several months ago, Harley was diagnosed with feline diabetes and requires two insulin shots daily. Melaina told me that each day they get with Harley is a blessing and I am very glad to have finally got to photograph this handsome boy for her.

The rest of her fur family is healthy (knock on wood – haha, sorry Melains!), fun-lovng and full of it! There were even some 5 week old foster kittens and their mama (which will be up for adoption in a couple weeks at the Calgary Humane Society!) to photograph – talk about a full house!
